The Power of One

May 25, 2011

One of the most powerful concepts I’ve ever learned about is the power of the individual to effect change in those around them.

This lesson has really been important for me because I don’t watch the news or read about it or listen to it because it is negative energy. But I very often find myself in social situations, even in spiritual circles, where the conversation turns very negative to criticism about the world or people in it. I used to bite my tongue or leave the conversation or get angry and criticize the people doing the criticizing.

Then one day I realized that I have the power to change people’s energy in the moment. An that’s what I do now

So I wanted to tell a story that shows how easy it is to do.

Yesterday I was in a small vegetable market when a man took 4 bananas costing $1 and left .75 cents on the counter and split. The cashier yelled at him and he yelled back, “Why you trying to embarrass me?”

The cashier was enraged and kept yelling at this man to give her another quarter long after he was gone. She was very upset and she wanted to complain about it to all the customers that came up to her. So as I shopped I started to put mental energy into putting positive thoughts into her mind and positive energy coming out of her mouth.

By the time I got to the cash register, she was calmed down a bit and so I put my food on the counter and gave her my biggest grin. She rang me up and said it was $19.95 and I said, “Wow, that’s terrific, I’ve only got $20, God is good!” She looked at me for a minute and I just smiled. Then she said, “All the time!” and smiled back.

We just smiled at each other for a long moment. Then she took extra time to balance out my bags and wrap my tomatoes. I thanked her for how nicely she did that.

I don’t know if I helped create the change in her but it certainly turned out to be a really nice experience for me.

You can change the energy of the people around you anytime with some very sophisticated, secret metaphysical tools. Are you ready to hear them? Here they are.

1) Smiling 2) making eye contact and 3) telling people that you appreciate them.

This tool works in our day-to-day lives but where it really shines is in business. If you own a business or work on commissions you know that everyone you meet is a potential client or referral. Ever time you “connect” with someone, you build a connection. If you can maybe help them out of a bad mood you establish trust and people become interested in who you are and what you do.

When I used to sell photographs at fairs I tried to “sell” them and never got anywhere. My daughter worked for me one day and suggested I just try to connect and she showed me how, by simply taking an interest in them, asking questions, complimenting them. It felt fake at first but then I found I was genuinely interested. then they asked me about my work and I told them about it. I never had to sell again.

One man is equal to 100 mans if we use the mind in a right direction. Thank you for the post
